Small Changes, Big Gains

I constantly listen to my grandparents and their friends start telling stories with the line ‘when I was younger’, and I’ve thought to myself on numerous occasions, our minds must move to a state of nostalgia when we get older. They were simply pondering over the glory days, when they were young, fit and full of hormones. Unbeknownst to me they weren’t pining over their greatest victories gone, but an issue that ran much deeper: they had lost their vitality.
Observing my grandparents like this made me think about how easy it can be to get stuck in a rut, and living a life full of bad habits and choices that eventually we won’t live to like. I wanted in on the secret to living a youthful life and found my answers from Dr. Norman Walker’s books.
Becoming younger requires an open mind. Dr. Norman Walker says in his book Becoming Younger “To be young means having all or most of the attributes of youth, health, energy, vitality, and perpetual laughter on the lips and in the eyes, but to become younger we must be healthy”. For those of you who don’t know Norman Walker, he was the founder of cold press juicing. A true pioneer, he lived to be 119 years of age with a diet consisting of raw foods and cold pressed juices.
A couple of years ago juicing was a summer activity for most of us. Only real health-conscious people were following the trend. I have followed a healthy lifestyle for the past two-years now and make cold press juices everyday of the week. I can conclude this: Juicing is the greatest way to replenish the body and provide you with a youthful, healthy and radiant life. That statement might seem silly but I guarantee juicing will enlighten you in ways you cannot imagine.
When we juice we intake the maximum amount of nutrients from fruit and vegetables as they enter into our bloodstream, providing the body with essential vitamins and minerals for organ function, fighting ailments and overall wellbeing. How can fruit and vegetables make us feel so good? Well here’s the low-down:
• Fruits and vegetables enter our blood stream.
• The brain directs enzymes and minerals to the body’s organs to provide restorative properties to ailments or nutrient to the body’s overall functioning.
• Over time our organs repair themselves and regain total function.
• Healthy body function means energy and energy means a healthy, happy and more radiant you.
We all have a reason to begin juicing. Whether your juicing to cleanse, lose weight, or stop snacking, juicing can help us reach our goals and for me help me preserve my youth, energy and health. There is a great deal of research regarding the health benefits of juicing fruits and vegetables. Its because of juicing that I feel more energised, and continue to embrace my attributes of youth with open arms.
