Breaking food, paper and garden scraps into a compost both generates and requires heat. Different microorganisms start working at different temperatures. Both the Little Pig and Big Pig are well insulated and allows the temperature to rise to as high as +75 degrees centigrade. Without insulation it may not be possible to reach such a high temperature, which in turn means that microorganisms demanding high temperatures for their activity will never start working.

Rotation is the key

The rotating design of the compost bin means you get a more even heat distribution and an active breaking down process throughout the entire mixture. Mixing is necessary for composting to be a success as it brings fresh waste into contact with already decayed material and also introduces oxygen. Using an insulated and rotating chamber ensures an even heat distribution and an active decomposition process throughout the entire volume of waste. This is why composting is so rapid in these units, occuring in approximately 6-8 weeks time. The high temperature makes these composting bins especially suited for kitchen waste, both cooked and uncooked, including meat and fish scraps.

You can save 2400 pounds of carbon dioxide per year by recycling just half of your kitchen waste.

The Joracomposter has been tested and evaluated in a project comprising 466 households in small houses and blocks of flats and day nurseries.

Joraform Home Composting Bins

Composting has never been easier and more successful than with the Joraform composting system. These insulated, heat generating and rotating compost bins effectively breaks down all food scraps including meat, fish, shellfish, household paper?even pet droppings.

The Little Pig is perfect for a household of 4 – 6 people (10-12 litres of kitchen waste a week) and the Big Pig is perfect for 10-12 persons (25-30 litres of kitchen waste a week).

Both units are self standing and suspended off the ground which discourages cockroaches, vermin and snakes and also takes the mess out of composting.
