Is your home or office hazardous to your health?
The answer may surprise you... You might sniffle or have a scratchy throat or watery eyes. You might even think it's a cold, hay fever, flu or a bad case of bronchitis. Then again, your not feeling well could be simply that your home or workplace is sick and it's making you sick. After all, most of us spend up to 90 percent of our time indoors.
Experts now voice new concerns that indoor pollution in homes and workplaces might be more dangerous to our health than even outdoor air pollution.
While pollutant levels from individual sources may not pose a significant health risk by themselves, most homes harbour more than one source. Without being alarmist, we can be at serious risk from the cumulative effects of these contaminants.
Allergens can result from dust and pollens. Carbon monoxide can escape from fireplaces and gas stoves; upholstered furniture houses live dust mites; and pesticides emit noxious gases into the air. Mold and bacteria often funnel through heating, ventilation, and cooling systems, and volatile organic chemicals seep out of paint, carpets and scotch guarding of furniture. Even common household products like air fresheners and cleaning agents can release pollutants continuously.
What is Happening to our Water?
The challenge for our communities is the balance between provision of and maintenance of a clean water supply. Throughout history people have commonly died from waterborne diseases like cholera, dysentery, and typhoid fever. As populations have increased, the demand for properly treated water has also increased. Today, we have impressive municipalities that have done an outstanding job, but there's a problem of aging water treatment systems overwhelmed by the large volume of contaminants and ever-expanding population demand. Chlorination has been added to the supply and this has effectively removed bacteria and parasites. However there are over 75000 chemical compounds which can be found in our water supply from industry, agriculture and consumers/homes. Even our modern technology is no match for testing these many pollutants, much less eliminating them.
What is Happening to our Food?
At the same time we are eating food from soil which is depleted from vital minerals and trace elements through over-harvesting, lack of crop rotation and heavy use of pesticides and fertilization methods designed for rapid growth rather than nutritional value. Our food is harvested green and gassed to ripen. And vital nutrients are missing because we are eating mostly processed and over-cooked food. This is having a huge consequence on our health - with our immune systems depleting. There are now over 80 auto-immune diseases registered. The bottom line is our cells are increasingly dehydrated and dealing with a mounting toxic load.
The hurried pace of everyday life has consequence for our health and well-being. So many people are faced with a loss of vitality and inner peace as well as stress-related health issues and infertility. The stress of daily responsibilities and our mental attitudes towards them, has a huge impact on our health. We eat "fast", live "fast" and harbour many unprocessed toxins in our physical and emotional bodies.

Dehydration will also cause low-oxygen and high acidity environments that are more suited for cancer cell development than the original normal tissues.

How do I know if my body is Acidic?
The metabolic process is constantly producing acids, especially with a diet that includes meat. The lack of a proper alkaline counter balance will inevitably lead to an overly acidic body environment, making the body susceptible to all kinds of ailments. The air is so polluted these days - what can I do to protect my family's health?
A national study in the US revealed that the average person spends 87% of their lives indoors, with 67% of that time spent at a residence.
